A remote control airplane is scale model plane that can be flown and controlled remotely using a remote control system based on radio control. A radio control a.k.a. RC is a device or system that uses radio signals to control a remote device. Such remote control airplane is termed as “radio control airplane,” or “rc airplane.” An rc model airplane is usually equipped with a radio control receiver that receives signals from radio control transmitter. A flyer flies and controls the airplane using the buttons or joystick on the transmitter. The transmitter sends signals and commands to the receiver that makes a plane work accordingly. Generally, there are many terms used for remote control airplanes including ‘remote control planes,’ ‘remote controlled planes,’ ‘remote controlled airplanes,’ ‘radio control airplanes,’ ‘radio controlled airplanes,’ ‘radio control planes,’ ‘radio controlled planes,’ ‘rc airplanes,’ ‘rc model airplane,’ and ‘rc planes.’ Technically, an rc model airplane is a scale model of the original airplane. They are based on the scientific principles of their original counterparts. RC airplanes are usually powered by high performance electric batteries and motors, or fuel. Most often methanol or gasoline, or nitromethane, or oil mixture is used as fuel in the fuel powered rc airplanes, and these airplanes are called “gas rc airplanes” or “nitro rc airplanes”. The rc model airplane that uses high performance electric batteries is termed as electric rc airplanes or electric powered rc airplanes. RC airplanes are commonly used by hobbyists, and scientific, government, military, and spying agencies for experiments, gathering weather readings, aerodynamic modeling, testing, and spying. RC airplanes are very popular among hobbyists. Flying and assembling an rc model airplane is a very popular hobby nowadays.
