RC Sailboats

Like an ardent rc sailing buff, you might be attending all rc regattas to watch rc sailing races. You regret to be a mere spectator over there! You too can easily learn sailboating and can go on racing in these rc regattas.

You have many options available for owning your own radio control sailboat. You can pick and choose your sailboat from a wide range of rc sailboats available in all sizes and shapes. There are basically two types of sailboats; scale sailboats and non scale sailboats.

Scale rc sailboats are typically modeled on the original sailboats. These sailboats look exactly life their original counterparts. The scale radio control sailboats include a myriad if ‘read to sail’ sailboats. Among scale rc sailboats, there are many choices available ranging from semi-scale (easily assembled kits from several companies like Kyosho) to completely scratch-built brigantines, schooners, barks, yawls, ketches, etc.

There are also one design class rc sailboats. These sailboats come, either completely assembled or in kit form, from a single maker. These sailboats aren’t usually lightweight, and are better suited to the guys who prefer racing on a more genteel level.

The non-scale rc sailboats are designed and built solely for high-speed racing. These are one of the fastest radio control sailboats. These are extremely lightweight sailboats with slim, eggshell hulls that sport deep-fin keels and tall, carbon-fiber masts. These sailboats get swiftly accelerated even with the slightest breeze. These sailboats are ultra responsive to rudder and sail-trim commands. These boats are typically meant for the experts sailors.

The best option for a beginner is choosing a cheap “ready to sail” sailboat at first instance. You should learn sailing and improve your skills on a ready to sail rc sailboat, and when you are proficient enough, you can go for assembling and building your own sailboat.
